Main Ecosystem
The Curimbaba Group RPPN (Private Natural Heritage Reserve) is the largest private reserve in the Manhuaçu region. It is home to one of the last twelve populations of the Northern Muriqui ($Brachyteles \ hypoxanthus$).
The Northern Muriqui is the largest primate in the Americas; native to the Atlantic Forest, it is critically endangered, with fewer than 1,000 individuals remaining in the wild due to habitat loss and hunting. Beyond its rarity, the species is vital to the health of the forest, acting as one of its primary seed dispersers.
This RPPN was created spontaneously; in other words, it is not conditioned upon or linked to any Environmental Licensing project of the Curimbaba Group. By maintaining this RPPN, the Curimbaba Group strengthens its commitment to environmental conservation and the protection of endangered species, preserving an essential natural heritage for future generations.Location -
